A benefit poetry performance by Linda Gabriel for organic farming by women in Zimbabwe
In a land with a high level of rural population, financial instability, food insecurity and limited access to water; where women, assisted by children, are the ones who traditionally who provide food and water for their families, where abuse is common, Zimbabwean poet, activist, and project founder Linda Gabriel seeks to change this story by enabling such women to be self-sufficient and take control of their futures. Her Mapfihwa is being developed upon the principles of permaculture, through which women can grow their own food using sustainable organic farming methods and educate themselves and their children.
To achieve this, Ms Gabriel needs to be trained in permaculture practices so that she can pass these skills on to her community. The benefit performance seeks to fund her participation in a permaculture design and certification course that is crucial to the long term success of this project. Ms Gabriel needs € 1000.00, this amount will carter for course fees, travel costs from Zimbabwe to Mozambique and accommodation costs.
Please help us give rural Zimbabwean women the knowledge they need to attain their own independence!
In partnership with Aktionsgemeinschaft Solidarische Welt and Refugio Berlin, Ms Gabriel will perform poems depicting the experiences and plights of women in her community and speak in depth about the Mapfihwa project, including a question and answer session with the audience.
